Modoc County is home to more than 140,000 acres of agronomic crops including Alfalfa Hay, Meadow/Grass Hay, Forage/Grain Hay, Wild Rice, Mint, Wheat, Barley, and Irrigated Pasture contributing over $145 million to the county economy. Agronomic practices and irrigation management of the crops play a pivotal role in the sustainable productivity and economic enhancement of local agriculture. University of California Cooperative Extension is committed to collaborate with local farmers, stakeholders, and other agencies to work for the betterment of agriculture through applied research and extension outreach.
